Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you need a building permit?
A: A building permit is required for all new construction to take place beneath the building. Call your local building department to understand their procedures.

Q: Do we need a moving permit?
A: A moving permit for a lot move is not required.

Q: What kind of prep work is required to do prior to it being moved?
A: You must have all services disconnected, clean and strip out the basement/ crawlspace of the house, . There are many other requirements that are more job specific. After viewing your project, we provide you with a written quotation, and list all of your requirements. Click here for a quote.

Q: Are there any restrictions with the size of house to be raised?
A: The only restrictions to raising any building are economic; we can move almost any structure.

Q: Can you raise the house with the chimney & fireplace?
A: In most cases, yes. But we must scope out the project before we give a final approval.

Q: Does it matter what time of year it is?
A: Yes. Extreme weather conditions may dictate a move, but certainly good weather is preferable.

Q: Do you move sheds?
A: The cost of moving sheds may be cost-prohibitive, especially if they are small. Feel free to call us anyway to get a quote by clicking here.

If you are thinking about, raising or relocating your structure, the following are things to consider:

- Will the structure fit from point A to point B? Consider both the width and the height of the structure (i.e. trees, bridges, telephone poles, etc.)

- When a flood zone is involved you will need to know, elavations and have a foundation plan. Local engineers will be able to assist with this.
