Our History

Sylvester Building Movers, Inc. has been in the building moving and excavation business for over half a century. My father, John, founded the business in 1954, and I took over the business in 1980.

We have grown a lot since then with the purchases of some very specialized equipment, to include a few; a unified jacking system, building mover skates, and hydraulic dollies. We specialize in foundations under existing buildings, building moving, and building demolition. In fact, that is the only type of work we do.

We have all the excavation/demolition equipment to handle removal of old foundations, and the prep work for new foundations.

If you are thinking about, raising or relocating your structure, the following are things to consider:

- Will the structure fit from point A to point B? Consider both the width and the height of the structure (i.e. trees, bridges, telephone poles, etc.)

- When a flood zone is involved you will need to know, elavations and have a foundation plan. Local engineers will be able to assist with this.
