Sylvester Building Movers, Inc., located on Cape Cod, Ma. provides service throughout New England. We have consistently remained the preferred business for building moving, building raising and excavation for new foundations throughout Massachusetts for over 60 years, and rapidly gaining the same reputation throughout the other states of New England. My father, John Sylvester, founded the business in 1945, and I took over the business in 1980.

We have grown a lot since then with the purchases of some very specialized equipment, for instance; a unified jacking system, building mover skates, and hydraulic dollies. We specialize in foundations under existing buildings, building moving, and building demolition. In fact, that is the only type of work we do.

We have all the excavation/demolition equipment to handle removal of old foundations, and the prep work for new foundations.

A Few Reasons For Raising or Relocating a Structure.

One reason would be a failing or non-existing foundation. The next reason would be to reposition a structure on its lot in order to maximize the usability of the area. Another reason to relocate or put a foundation under a building would be if that building had historical value. Finally, in some cases, when a building is located in a flood zone, elevating the building a few feet can eliminate any problems associated with that.

If you are thinking about, raising or relocating your structure, the following are things to consider:

• Will the structure fit from point A to point B? Consider both the width and the height of the structure (i.e. trees, bridges, telephone poles, etc.)
• - When a flood zone is involved you will need to know, elevations and have a foundation plan. Local engineers will be able to assist with this.
